The Luther Parish Hamburg-Bahrenfeld belongs to the church district Hamburg West / South Holstein. It is situated in Bahrenfeld in the city of Hamburg. Very active in the diaconic area, it offers counselling for parents, gives out food and clothes to people in need and helps children from the area of Tschernobyl. The parish has rented a field of 14.000 squaremeters and is cultivating it as a garden. This „Luthergarden“ is a place of working together, a place to play and to learn and a place of meditation and celebration.
The method of gardening is focussed on biodiversity instead of maximizing the harvest. It is giving space to animals and a variety of plants,
The Luther parish is planning to further develop the garden as a place of learning for the whole Nordkirche. The focus will be on questions of development politics and ecology. Therefore the parish is excited to be part of the Church Climate Action Partnership Project.
