The Luther Parish belongs to the church district Hamburg West /South Holstein and is situated in Bahrenfeld in the city of Hamburg. The parish is very active in the diaconic area. It offers counselling for parents, gives out food and clothes to people in need and helps children from the area of Tschernobyl. The parish has rented a field of 14.000 squaremeters and is cultivating it as a garden, called Luthergarden. The garden is a place of working together, a place to play and to learn, a place of meditation and celebration.
The method of gardening is focussed on biodiversity, giving space to animals and a variety of plants, instead of maximizing the harvest.
The Luther parish is planning to further develop the garden as a place of learning for the whole Nordkirche, also looking at questions of development politics and ecology and therefore is excited to be part of the Church Climate Action Partnership Project.
